JobDescriptionThorlabsITSupportEngineerhastheresponsibilitytoworkwithandprovidedirectsupportforadiversesetofdesktop,printer,andservertechnologiesthatspannotonlythelocalregionbutalsointheremotesupportoftheglobaldatacentersandinternationaloffices.Theprimaryfocusofthisrolewillbethesupportandmaintenanceofthelocalofficeenvironment,whichwillallowyouexpandyourknowledgebaseandbuildastrongerskillsetinanenvironmentthatcrossesavarietyofdifferenttechnologies.Suchresponsibilitieswillincludetrackingandrespondingtothehelpdeskticketingsystem,aswellasmaintaininganeatandorganizedworkenvironment.Thecandidatemusthaveanenthusiasticdemeanorwiththeabilitytofosterafriendlyatmospherewiththecustomers-enduserclientbase.TheITsupportengineerwillalsotakepartincoordinatingandmanagingmaintenanceofsomeofthemanufacturingequipment,aswellas,fromtimetotime,coordinatingconstructionworkandgeneralfacilitymaintenance. Additionally,thecandidatemustbeaself-starterwhocanworkefficientlyinafast-pacedsupportoperationsenvironment.Theindividualmusthaveexcellentwritten,oral,andinterpersonalskills.ThispositionwillbebasedoutoftheChinaofficeandwillinvolvedaytodayinteractionwithendusers,internalITstaff,andmanagement.Thispositionrequiresworkingaspartofateamthatactivelysupportsadynamicenvironmentandrequiresworkingdirectlywithabroadspectrumofusers,desktoprelatedtechnologiesincludinghardware,software,networking,andtelecommunications.Thispositionoffersworkingwithstateoftheartequipmentandtrainingonthenewesttechnologies.
